I LOVE the idea of women feeling beautiful. I started this blog with the want to provide women with the encouragement to feel good and beautiful. I want to offer women a sort of inspiration to make moves to feel beautiful.
~~I will warn you, what comes next is a passion filled piece, written because of a fire that was lit in my belly. ~~
I was just listening to Girl Code by Cara Alwill Leyba on Audible while I ran errands over my lunch break. In her book, she interviews a model turned businesswoman. One of the areas she focuses on discussing is that being you is the most beautiful thing you can be. She discusses just how much she was criticized for her looks and that she never looked "perfect" by model industry standards *insert eye roll here*.
This got me thinking about why we can't all just support one another's beauty. Why do we pass judgement on individuals for their appearances? Is it because we don't feel beautiful? I know I am guilty of being judgmental of other beautiful women when I am not feeling confident. When I am feeling good about myself and my appearance I find myself looking at other beautiful women and wanting to compliment them...wanting to lift them up and make sure they know how beautiful they are.
I am so tired of people bashing women for wearing makeup and investing their time in their appearance. ESPECIALLY women who do it to other women! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if you have a special routine, or prefer to wear makeup because it makes you feel good, just do it! If you are one of those women who finds yourself judging and emitting negative energy onto another woman, take a step back and think about how you are currently feeling about yourself. Consider trying something new with your makeup...or wearing makeup if you don't already. Go to a clothing store and get styled. Go to a salon and spruce up your hair. Do one or all of these things, whatever you're comfortable with. Then take a step back and really think about how you feel about yourself, again. This time, I'd be willing to bet you feel WAY better.
- I am a strong proponent of making your body feel good and just focusing on being happy. But I will also be the first to tell you that when I invest some time in my appearance, I feel happier. This might sound vane, but its a fact. When I look at myself in the mirror and choose to accentuate the parts of myself that I love, I feel a boost in my confidence. Some see makeup as a menagerie of disgusting products that have been invented to make women feel less naturally beautiful. I have a different take on the makeup industry. I see makeup as a tool to stand out. A tool that simply assists you in feeling beautiful.
